Career Coaching

There are a number of different approaches to effective coaching for an MBA student. We understand that challenges can change from day-to-day as do career ambitions and the CPD team want to ensure that you are equipped with the skills, insights and resilience to allow you to thrive during your MBA, career journeys and beyond.

Group coaching

To provide you with both the benefits of Career Partner coaching insights and collective wisdom from your fellow classmates for your career strategies and search, the CPD team will support group-coaching sessions. In these sessions you can expect hiring industry/market updates; a check-in on your career status and activity; some key metrics that will support your career success and, of course, a chance to bring your questions to the table for some collaborative conversations.

Individual coaching

We also appreciate that every student has different needs and goals, and we want to support you in the best way we can to make your aspirations fly. You will have the opportunity to book onto individual sessions with CPD coaches who can evaluate your strengths, suggest areas for improvement and work closely with you in formulating a customized strategy to help you succeed.

Professional Career Coaches

Leveraging our Coach community, every student will have the opportunity to work with a coaching professional with over 20 years of work experience. Such access will help prepare you for your career journey, give you feedback on your interview technique and challenge your thinking whilst helping you action plan your way to the role you want.

With 5 years of experience in the financial sector prior to joining HKUST MBA, I was looking to explore and move into other industries or functions. The workshops and consultations hosted by the Careers Team helped a lot as they provided me with the knowledge and framework I needed to explore my options. Joining the Human Resources Management Associate Program at Citibank has been the perfect choice because it involves working with people across teams and seniorities which is one of my passions. There is a strategic element to it as talent is by far the most important resource that any organization has. Working for an international and diverse company such as Citi has provided me with opportunities to work across different geographies and functions within HR.
